यदि हम अपने केवल शारीरिक ज़रूरतों के लिए ही संसार पर निर्भर होते तो कोई समस्या नहीं थी पर हम अपने अस्तित्व को ही, अपने होने के भाव को ही संसार पर टिका देते हैं। इसी कारण बाहर की कोई छोटी-सी घटना भी हमें भीतर तक हिला देती है। और चूँकि संसार निरन्तर परिवर्तनशील है अतः हमारा सम्पूर्ण जीवन ही भय और दुःख के साये में व्यतीत होता है।
